Report # 9

[11:25:05], 5/29/14

And it's up!

Should I pop the cork?

Yeah man, do it! Ah fuck and now there's champagne on me.

Sorry dude.

If Annalee can buy this shit, why does she have like a pot of moonshine hidden under the remains of the sink anyway?

I dunno. Why buy coke when you can afford root beer? It's a weird question there dude.

Whatever, point is, hurray, everything is officially reprogrammed. Beau is here with me, say hi Beau.

Hello.

And Annalee is...somewhere?

She said she was going to take a walk.

What? She's barely been three feet from the storage rooms and as soon as I get this thing going she goes for a walk?

Apparently. There's a pond like a half a mile away from here, and I think she wanted a bath. I might go join her after this.

Ewwww.

You're free to come.

Ewwwwww! No stop winking gross. You're doing that just to screw with me, stop it. The less I know about your nasty brand of sex the better.

Ain't nothing nasty about it.

Ughh, this is not going how I planned at all. So finally everything is up and running again, which I guess means that this is sort of a formal invitation for something to come and fuck it all up, right?

That's right.

Right. Man...I just realized, I've been out here for more than a year.

Crazy how the time flies right?

How long have you been on the run?

When I was seven something got into my house and killed my baby sister. That was twenty-three years ago, and ever since then.

Christ. So longer than Annalee then?

Mmm hmm. It's not something I'm very proud of.

Why's that?

You can out run death all you want really, but it isn't free. Some people just go bankrupt sooner then others you know?

You have the worse metaphors.

Eh, it's complicated. You live long, you see more people die, you lose parts of yourself you wish you'd held on to. Once your marked he'll get you, but he'll take his time.

Doesn't sound like you're that bothered.

I'm not. I mean, we all gotta die. Nobody ever said life was easy or that bad things wouldn't happen. You just gotta keep living you know? Annalee...that's her hang up, she just can't let shit go sometimes. She was never somebody who could...I dunno, move on.

Beau...we're still recording?

Right. I forgot.

How'd you meet Annalee?

When I was fifteen I was traveling around with this shithead, Rex, and we found this truck in the woods that had gone off the road and crashed. We cracked it open and found her curled up in a cooler.

What was she doing there?

I don't know. I don't think I ever asked her. Rex pulled her out and I thought she was gonna kill us both. See this scar here? She bit me.

Ouch.

Once she calmed down though we took her back to the trailer we'd been squatting in, and I remember she was crying, but her face wasn't moving. Like...Like she had tears running down her face, but she didn't seem to know they were there. It scared me shitless.

...You alright?

Mmm...I actually think I'm gonna head out.

Head out where?

Got places to go little man. I think I'll walk to the road and catch a ride out to the Grand Canyon or something. Seen it before but I've never been to the bottom.

What right now?

Tell Annalee I said goodbye.

Wait, don't you want to tell her yourself.

She'll get it.

Beau...Hey Beau Wait!

Mom

My Mom was sort of like me when she was a kid, which is to say she was a complete burnout. She never went to college and she and my dad got married young when she was already like three months pregnant. Before I started high school a boyfriend of hers went nuts and killed her.

I don't remember her being around much when I was a kid. I know she was addicted to crank, and I know her boyfriend was working a kitchen, but I didn't find any of that out until after she died. You'd think having something like that happen in my family would turn me off from drugs. It's like one of those over the top fear factor PSA's they show you at school where Jessie just can't take the pressure and snaps on those Caffeine Pills crying loudly as Zach holds her and tells her it's going to be all right, they'll get her help. Yet not even three months later and there I was, out by the dumpsters learning how to roll weed.

My dad hated her for the longest time, and I'm not going to lie and pretend she was a good mom, because she wasn't, but I don't know...I would rather have her be the worst mom, alive rather than dead.

When I was really little, back when she was still sort of herself, I remember she used to come home late from these parties, and sneak into my room with hot chocolate, sort of as an apology.

I bring it up because those messages about me on the blog are all sort of to do with my mom, and that worries me. It's like someone's trying to use her to psyche me out.

I've been trying to talk to Annalee about it but she's been busy trying to patch up the holes in the floor of the shack and put it back together after all these months of neglect. It feels kind of like she's been ignoring me.

Beau's been saying she's out of it because of what the people at Legion did to her. He said they have a way of fucking with your brain, and a long time ago, they did something to her that fucked her up big time. I guess she's got uncomfortable memories all over the place too.

She's still not letting anyone look at the files, but at least no one's bothered us since we've been back. Knock on wood.

I don't know, what do you guys think?

New Computer

It took a while, but I've got a new computer up and running, because when we found mine it was a small puddly of melted metal outside the shack we've been living in. It's not all that disconcerting. Just a computer, right? It's weird because I feel like it should bother me more, but it doesn't.

You know, I never gave a lot of thought to what I wanted out of life. I think. I wanted to kill myself, but was too scared to try it. Maybe I wanted an easy sort of out. That might explain the heroin.

Now here I am, with an end in sight, a painful and gruesome one most likely and I don't know. It just feels like freedom. No more pretense, no more uncertainty, and hey something to work towards that feels, I don't know, worth something?

Maybe that's why I've stuck with Annalee this long. She makes me feel worth something.

She's been pretty out of it since we were kidnapped. They did something to her in there.

I can't remember a lot. I remember staying up with her trying to persuade her to get some rest, and then suddenly a smoke bomb came through the window and people were flooding in. After that, it's just a lot of white rooms and being kept high as a kite. Lots of surgeries I think. Judging by the scars on my stomach, I think they probably stole my appendix or something. Annalee's already talking about trying to get an X-ray, but we'd need to travel for that and right now, so long as I'm not immediately dying, I think we're focusing on breathing.

...I feel calmer than I did before. Not better, particularly, or happier, just more relaxed. It might be the drugs they had me on, but those would've worn off by now wouldn't they have? I think some of it might be Beau, since he's just that kind of person. He's been helping us get around since we've both been pretty wrecked. Which, oh shit, yeah, you guys have no clue who he is. Bastard gave me the impression he was a figment of my imagination, but nope he's just a run of the mil runner with a banjo. He's also kind of an asshole, but he's been making us breakfast so I don't have a lot of room to complain.

Apparently he and Annalee are old flames, (his words not mine,) which is just...I don't know weird. She doesn't act much like she likes him, she's barely said a word to him since he saved us from that lab, and he's been friendlier with me than her. It's like there's a giant Elephant made of ice in whenever the two of them are in a room together, and ughh, I don't know. The less I have to think about Annalee, the human embodiment of a catcus, and Beau, the hobo with no shirt, doing it, the better off I think I'll be. It's like trying to picture your parents having sex, and don't read too much into that statement please.

Beau's been great though. He's a good guy. Happy as a clam and a good listener, and he makes a mean scrambled egg, which is a pretty big feet when the only eggs available are like, rattlesnake eggs. After so long with Annalee, it just feels better to have someone in the shack who isn't so high strung. Maybe that's why Annalee doesn't like him, she likes it when things are stressful and tense. That's when she's relaxed.

She's been all but pacing a large comedic hole into the floor since we've got back, been looking over files she stole from Legion.

She won't let anyone read them, but I do know who's files she's got.

The names I've managed to get a look at are these.

A. Cardinal, B. Roland, J. Valdi, O. Jones, D. Cypress, E. Logan, P. Summers, J. Gregorio, M. McLaughlin and R. Trent.

She's keeping them in a safe, so I have no clue what's in mine. I think she's being careful about what get's said and what doesn't.

We'll be able to check in on you guys more, now that we have a computer again and shits starting to get pulled together.

I think stuff if going to be all right for now. I still need to figure out what those letters about me were, because I'm not sure...One mystery at a time, right?

Four Months

We're alive. It happens.

I should probably take this time to apologize to Tilde, since she helped rescue us, and as a thank you I outed her identity and put her in a compromising situation. Though if you want to hear about that I suggest you take it up with her. I'm not at liberty to say anything more about it.

So as you probably guessed, we were visited by a proxy a few weeks ago. A proxy named Redlight. I'm sure most of you already know who he is as he made quite a name for himself. If not just do the google thing or whatever, I don't fuckin know. A colleague of mine who has since died, named Georgia Summers, had a hand in some of the research into those end of the world vaccines that wound up getting both her and Redlight killed. When he came back, calling him a proxy might be using the term liberally. He was more like a black pussing tumor attached to the back of a head of one of Jaime's hoodlum friends. He sought us out presumably because he didn't know Georgia was dead, and was looking for a cure for his predicament. Before I could begin operating and figuring out how all of this was possible though, Morningstar interrupted me, and completely destroyed any remnant of the infection. I doubt this means Redlight is gone for good. After all it takes a lot to kill a cockroach.

Back to how and why we were missing for so long.

If you honestly think that no one in the world but the stalked are conscious of the disappearances and killings and the supernatural elements behind them, then you are sorely mistaken. There are multiple factions of government all over the world who know what's been going on and have been dealing with it in absolute secrecy, for reasons that by now should be obvious. Not all of these organizations have you're safety first and foremost in their agendas. The science and research ones in particular have interest in experimentation on runners. I promise you, not every disappeared blogger you've met was killed by the Slender Man.

A long, long, long time ago, this woman from an organization called LEGION sought me out to see if I would "donate" my research to her organization. When I refused we came to a head for a short time and it ended with us making a deal. I could continue to live my life in the dessert in exchange for not releasing LEGION information, and keeping certain aspects of my research completely confidential.

However, for reasons, that deal was broken a few months ago. Danny, Jaime, and I were taken into their custody. Me and Danny, with the help of Tilde and Beau are now safe. (Save your questions on Beau til later please.) I also managed to make it out with some confidential information, concerning friends of mine.

I don't know where Jaime is now, but I have good reason to believe he's dead. I don't know who uploaded all those documents, but I guess I have them to thank for getting out since they helped alert Beau and Tilde to the fact we were in deep shit.

It's good to be free, and outside again. Nothing's worse than being cooped up in a cell.

There's more shit to tell you, I know,

Just got nothing left right now.

[DREAM]

L: Any dreams last night?

A: Yes.

L: Would you like to describe them for me?

A:

L: Describe the dream.

A: I'm standing in a forest...and all around me things are running away. From something behind me.

L: What's behind you?

A:

L: Right. How do you feel, about what's behind you.

A:

L: Are you frightened?

A: I don't feel anything. I don't want to run.

L: Why don't you want to run?

A: I just....don't.

L: What happens if you don't run?

A: I get killed.
L: Does that frighten you?

A: No.

L: Were there any familiar faces in this dream?

A: The blonde proxy.

L: The one who killed your friend?

A: He wasn't my friend.

L: What is she doing?

A: Crying.

L: Why?

A:

L: All right Anna I think that's enough for today. When I snap my fingers I want you to go back to sleep.

A:

L: One, two three.
